Community projects by Les Amis de Gambie

The organisation ‘Les Amis de Gambie’ also helps to improve the living conditions of the local community. Three boreholes have now been constructed in the village where the orphanage is located. More than 3,000 people are now able to benefit from clean drinking water. As a result, the women from the village no longer have to walk long distances to fetch water, water no longer has to be paid for and the risk of infectious diseases caused by drinking contaminated water is reduced.

Les Amis de Gambie has restored a 500-meter section of the sand track that runs through the village up to the orphanage. We hope that in the near future, we will be able to provision the necessary funds to complete the roadworks on the remaining section of the village track. As we strongly believe in sport as an outlet for young people in The Gambia, our organisation has also constructed two soccer fields. Both have been equipped with a tiled supporters' stand. The various teams have also been given strips.
